Cummins Announces Support For EPA SmartWay
COLUMBUS, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) today announced that its 2007 clean and fuel-efficient on-highway engines are available in Class 8 tractors, which meet requirements for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay-designated highway tractors, part of the U.S. EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership (www.epa.gov/smartway). Cummins ComfortGuard(TM) auxiliary power unit also assists carriers in meeting SmartWay membership requirements and can be specified in a SmartWay Class 8 tractor.
Cummins 2007 on-highway engines, which power Class 8 tractors, include the ISX, ISM and ISL. The engines are certified and compliant to the 2007 EPA requirements. In addition to meeting the more stringent requirements, these engines also deliver the reliability, best-in-class fuel efficiency and performance that customers need. Cummins engines can be purchased in SmartWay-eligible Class 8 tractors from International, Volvo, Kenworth and Peterbilt.
