Cummins Releases Its 2013-2014 Sustainability Report

COLUMBUS, IN -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/14 -- This week, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) released its largest Sustainability Report yet, including more data, pictures and stories than ever before.

The Company, which has produced a report since 2003, also released a 16-page Executive Summary of the more than 140 page report. Both can be found at the Company's external sustainability website, cummins.com/sustainability.

This year's report theme is "Living Our Values." It focuses on Cummins' six core values -- Integrity, Innovation, Delivering Superior Results, Corporate Responsibility, Diversity and Global Involvement. The report looks at how the Company is living its six core values in key areas of sustainability -- the environment, corporate responsibility, safety, diversity, governance and financial.

"Cummins' values provide us with a foundation that enables our Company to look at challenging times not as a moment to stand still, but rather as an opportunity to position ourselves for a bright future relying on our values to guide us more than ever," said Cummins Chairman and CEO Tom Linebarger. "Collectively, they are integral to everything we do, rooted in a 95-year tradition of partnering in our customers' success by providing innovative solutions to their power needs."

The lead story is on Cummins' new comprehensive environmental sustainability plan. The plan lays out all the ways the Company can move ahead on reducing its environmental footprint while providing economic value to stakeholders.

Report highlights include:

  • Cummins has set a goal of reducing direct water use across the Company by 33 percent, adjusted to hours worked while achieving water neutrality at 15 manufacturing sites in water stressed countries by 2020.

Another new feature of this year's report is its horizontal layout, which makes it easier to read on a computer. The Company, which is only going to print a limited number of reports to help conserve resources, encourages readers to access the online version.
