Cummins Selects Deborah Berke Partners to Design its Distribution Business Headquarters in Indianapolis

COLUMBUS, IN -- (Marketwired) -- 09/16/14 -- Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) today announced that it has selected the New York-based architecture firm Deborah Berke Partners to design its distribution business headquarters.

"Cummins has a long tradition of embracing inspiring architecture," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. "People are looking for distinctive places to live and work. We are excited to see the plans Cummins and Deborah Berke Partners develop for this premiere downtown location."

The firm has a Women's Business Enterprise certification and was chosen from a global design competition initiated by Cummins as part of its effort to continue its longstanding history as a patron of architecture. Deborah's firm understands the value of local partnership and has selected RATIO Architects, Inc., as the local architect of record. Cummins also announced the selection of Indiana-based Wilhelm Construction as the construction manager.

"We are thrilled to have Deborah Berke Partners join us in our effort to extend Cummins' architectural legacy to Indianapolis," said Marya Rose, Chief Administrative Officer, Cummins Inc. "They share our vision to create a space that inspires employees, customers, community residents and visitors. They will partner with the local architect and construction manager to make this vision a reality for Cummins."

Each of the firms was selected for its ability to align with Cummins' values, deliver on the vision of the building, assemble a diverse team and continue its proven track record of success in collaborating with a construction manager, owner and designer.

"We are excited to partner with Cummins and the City of Indianapolis on this transformational project," said Deborah Berke. "Cummins has a rich history as a patron of architecture, not only in Columbus, Indiana -- a city with one of the greatest collections of significant architecture in the United States -- but also around the world. We are honored to continue this legacy in Indianapolis as we collaborate on the creation of the company's new distribution business headquarters, which will be a 21st century approach to the workplace and will have a strong connection to the surrounding neighborhood."

Cummins announced plans for its Indianapolis distribution business headquarters in March of 2014. The project will be located on approximately four acres that previously housed a portion of Market Square Arena and will include an office building with ground floor retail, a flexible learning center, public green space and a parking garage on parcels bordered by Market, Alabama, Washington and New Jersey streets. Cummins' global corporate headquarters will remain in Columbus, where the company was founded 95 years ago.
